Armstrong was founded by Thomas Armstrong in 1860. With a history of more than 150 years, nearly two-thirds of the whole American history, Armstrong experienced the American civil war, the two world wars and the great depression. It developed from a small workshop with only two people to a multinational company with 31 factories in 7 countries and nearly 10,000 employees around the world. The head office of Armstrong is located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania of the United States. Its main business in early days was cork cutting, but now it has become the manufacturing and market leader of flooring and suspended ceiling system.
